FRIED EGG
A giant fried egg – to make you smile. This everyday shape is made using traditional skills and materials to make a modern, playful piece. The yolk is convex and back painted. The white is available as silvered mirror or using the verre églomisé method of applying silver leaf sheets by gilding them to the back of the glass, an ancient and skilled method of making mirrors. The frame is made from wood and gilded in silver leaf or is also available in a metalised resin finish or white gloss lacquer. The yolk is back lit so it glows and the shadow gap between frame and mirror is lit to highlight the silhouette and form of the fried egg.
Materials & Techniques
Yolk – kiln formed convex glass, backpainted. White – silver leaf églomisé silver leaf. Wood frame is gilded with silver leaf. LED Lighting, & silk chord flex.
