What are Liquid Glass Mirrors? Part mirror, part art, part lighting installation. Working with hot glass, the material goes into the state of a molten, liquid consistency which allows for a unique energy to be caught in the glass as it cools and sets. Using various techniques to manipulate the glass to achieve different effects each piece is unique. The age old craft of hand silvering  adds a mercurial patina and finish to the glass.

The glass is framed to highlight the silhouette of the design and conceal a LED lighting system which glows from the shadow gap between glass and frame. Some of the designs are lit within the glass to highlight the artistic details set in or upon the field of the glass. The added internal lighting means the pieces are very different between day and night which is intentional and adds another dimension.

Frames are made from solid hardwoods but can be finished in a variety of ways from clear oil to stains such as ebony or gloss lacquer (in any solid colour) or finally gilded with solid gold or silver using a gilding technique.
